FleetCooler - Wireless Refrigerated Van Monitoring & Telemetry

Remote Refrigerated Van Management Solution

Ayantra - a leading developer of remote asset management products has created a solution for managing refrigerated vans.

The Challenge:

FleetCooler

Refrigerated vans carry valuable and perishable cargo. To protect the vehicle and its contents, fleet managers must understand each vehicle’s location and its compliance with temperature control objectives. Unfortunately, current methods for managing refrigerated vans are often expensive, inefficient, time-consuming and ineffective.

Managing a fleet of refrigerated vans is a difficult task. Ayantra can help.

The Solution:

FleetCooler is a web-based, wireless solution for managing refrigerated vans. FleetCooler can support any make or model of refrigerated van. It provides timely information about each vehicle's Location, Temperature, Speed, and Status. FleetCooler can issue real-time Alert Notifications if the Temperature Limits are violated, or if other problems occur.

The complete solution consists of:

  • An Ayantra monitoring unit installed on the vehicle. The monitoring unit includes a GPS system, a cellular radio, a GPS/Cell antenna, an integrated backup battery, and a temperature sensor.
  • An Ayantra-provided website to deliver Temperature Plots, Location Reports, Status Reports, Maps, History Logs, and other management info. The website can also issue real-time Alert Notifications if any problems occur, including Temperature Violations.

Key Features

  • TEMPERATURE MONITORING: Each remote monitoring unit includes a temperature sensor. Authorized users can access the website to set High and Low Temperature Limits. The monitoring unit continually monitors temperature levels, and immediately reports Temperature Violations as they occur. The monitoring unit also sends routine temperature updates at regularly-scheduled intervals whenever the vehicle’s engine is ON. Authorized users may select ten-minute or fifteen-minute reporting intervals. Using the data collected from the remote monitoring units, the FleetCooler solution offers an “electronic strip chart” to summarize each vehicle’s temperature readings over any user-defined period of time.
  • LOCATION and STATUS UPDATES: Each update from the remote monitoring unit includes the vehicle’s Location, Speed, Mileage, Battery Level, and Temperature. Updates are provided as follows:
    • Violations - Each violation triggers an immediate update to the Ayantra server.
    • Activity - The monitoring unit automatically reports each time the vehicle’s engine is turned ON or OFF; each time the refrigeration unit is turned ON or OFF; and each time the compressor goes ON or OFF.
    • Automatic - The monitoring unit automatically sends regularly-scheduled updates whenever the vehicle's engine is ON.
    • On-Demand - Authorized users can collect real-time updates at any time via the internet.
  • ALERT NOTIFICATIONS: Performance violations - including Temperature Violations, Speed Violations, and Low Battery - can trigger real-time Alert Notification messages that can be directed to cell phones and/or email addresses.
  • ENGINE STATUS, PROTECTION MODE and COMPRESSOR STATUS: The remote monitoring unit reports each time the vehicle’s engine is turned ON or OFF; each time the refrigeration unit is turned ON or OFF; and each time the refrigeration unit’s compressor goes ON and OFF. The FleetCooler website also reports the compressor’s accumulated run-time.
  • TRACK REPORTS: Authorized users can create custom Track Reports to examine each vehicle’s path over any user-defined period of time. The Track Reports can be used to confirm compliance with route objectives, and they can also be used for Customer Billing, Fleet Management, or other operational requirements.
  • HISTORY LOG: Each vehicle’s Location, Temperature, and status information is retained in the Ayantra database for ninety days.
