Ayantra has created a solution tailored for
managing refrigerated trucks, vans and trailers. It can monitor up to three temperature zones, deliver“electronic strip chart reports,” and provide essential fleet management functionality. This web-based
solution is cost-effective and easy to use.
The Challenge:
Refrigerated vehicles (“reefers”) carry valuable and perishable cargo.
To protect the asset and its high-value contents, effective reefer
management is critical. Fleet managers must understand each reefer’s
location and its compliance with temperature control objectives.
Unfortunately, current methods for managing reefers are often
expensive, inefficient, time-consuming and ultimately ineffective. As a
result, many organizations lose a significant portion of their fleet value due to abuse,
under-utilization, misplacement and theft.
Managing a fleet of reefers can be a daunting task - but Ayantra can help.
The Solution:
Ayantra’s FleetReefer is a cost-effective wireless monitoring solution that enables organizations to easily manage
their refrigerated trailer. The solution provides timely location information and temperature reports for up to three
zones for each reefer. The complete solution consists of:
- An Ayantra monitoring unit - called the MAT 542R - installed on the reefer. The monitoring unit includes
GPS, cellular radio, GPS/Cell antenna, integrated backup battery, and temperature sensors capable of
monitoring up to three zones.
- An Ayantra-provided website to deliver Temperature Plots, Location Reports, Status Reports, History Logs,
and other management info.
Web Services :
- All reports and alerts are accessible through a simple web interface. The web interface provides real-time
information that enables fleet managers to understand the location of each reefer, and to ensure ongoing
compliance with its temperature control objectives.
- A History Log reports all communications to and from each vehicle.
- The web interface is powerful, intuitive, and easy to use.
Features & Benefits:
- Location & Status Reports keep Fleet Managers apprised of the status of the fleet
- Automatic - Each remote monitoring unit automatically sends Location & Status Reports every ten
minutes.
- On-Demand - Authorized users can collect real-time updates at any time via any web browser or
digital cell phone.
- Temperature Monitoring ensures compliance with Temperature Control Objectives
Each MAT 542R unit can monitor up to three separate temperature zones for each reefer. Temperature
readings are collected at ten-minute intervals from each sensor, and are wirelessly transmitted to the Ayantra
server. The server produces an “electronic strip-chart” for users. Authorized users can set independent
temperature limits for each zone and also specify times and dates to generate custom reports.
- Alert Notifications provide real-time warnings for key events
Any performance violation - including Temperature Violations, GeoFence/Theft Violations, Low Battery, etc. -
will trigger real-time Alert Notification messages that can be directed to cell phones and/or email addresses.
These real-time warnings enable Fleet Managers to help protect the reefer’s valuable cargo.
- Track Reports facilitate route analysis
Authorized users can create custom Track Reports to examine each reefer’s path at any time over the previous
twelve months. Track Reports can be used to confirm compliance with route objectives; or for Customer Billing,
Fleet Management, or other operational requirements.
- History Log information supports management reports
Each reefer’s location and status information is retained in the Ayantra database for twelve months, enabling
authorized users to examine each reefer’s performance over an extended period of time. The historical
information can be used to confirm the reefer’s compliance with regulatory requirements; or for Customer
Billing, Fleet Management, and other operational applications.
- Additional I/O Ports are available for custom features
The MAT 542R features four Input ports and two Output ports. The Input ports are user-configurable can be
utilized for reporting events such as “Door Open.” The Output ports are also user-configurable and can
support remote operations such as “Unlock Door.”
Wireless Temperature Sensors
- Each temperature sensor communicates wirelessly with the MAT 542R monitoring unit
- Up to three sensors and three temperature zones can be accommodated
- Sensor range is from –30oC to +65oC (-22oF to +149oF)
- Each battery-powered sensor measures 3.5” x 2.5” x 1”
- Battery life is one year. “Low Battery” warnings advise when to replace the battery
